Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

Well bloggers i'm back after a full week of fantastic skiing (i hope you all missed me!!!)
Wow ... I cant believe it went so quickly, but i'm here again to blog you all about it.

Well at 5.30am on Saturday 8th April my alarm went off, yep it was the beginning of my trip. Me and Gareth got up and got ready and final at 5.50am we headed down to dads house where we were getting the taxi, so it was aurevoir to mum and viva la Salzburg.

The taxi was booked for 6.00am, however there was no sign of it so dad rang the taxi company (A2B) and was complaining about the taxi being late, anyway the taxi people said it hadn't been booked but they had a people carry in shirley.....Fantasic!!! 2 mins later the taxi comes .... it was Able taxis (dad rung the wrong company) But that didn't matter as Able taxis had sent us a Rover 400, and with no boot space and a big ski bag we weren't going anywhere! So we sent Able packing and waitied for A2B. Finally they arrived in a big mercedes carrier and we were off.

At the airport we met up with the group: (excluding me, gareth and dad)
Pete, Hazel and Michael Twist
Micheal's friend Adam
Clive, Pauline, Samantha and Charlotte Dowling
Sam's boyfriend, Paul
Charlotte's friend Amy
Steve & Kym Boffey
Andy & Lorraine Lake

We checked in our luggage, and off to departures. Now for those who don't ski, won't know that Ski boots, and Ski's weight an awful lot. The ski's have to be checked in separatley and are dropped off at another luggage, point. We are also charged excess baggage because of the weight. Now to save weight on our luggage (so we are not charged again) we nomally put 1 boot in our luggage and 1 boot in our hand luggage. And so there we no problems with this......until up 2 now!!!!!!

Went through security checks, me, dad and gareth were stopped because of the boot in our hand luggage. So we were sent back to checking where we explained the situation, and the lady was going to charge us extra, because of the weight, so as usual dad complained. So we then went back upstairs bought a hold-all thing and put the the boots in there. Went back downstairs checked the luggage in and we were back to departures, ready for our flight at 8.30am.

As we were all sitting in excitment *bing-bong* "Flight BE1875 to Slazburg will delayed 1 hour" *bing-bong*

Aaaahhhhh CRAP!!!!!

But anyway the time flew, (pun!) and we on the plane, and soon landed in salzburg at about 12.30pm (11.30GMT)

It took us about 30mins to get to the hotel. Hotel De Wergenberg in Eben. It was lovely, and run by English folk too which saved alot of hassle trying to understand what the menu was for dinner!!!!!!!!

Because of the delay, we couldn't ski that afternoon as planned, so instead we decided to stay in the bar all afternoon!

Sunday morning, everyone was excited, we went to the local resort of Flachau. The weather was beautiful. Sun shining, a nice cool breeze and a great feeling being back on the slopes. To celebrate our first day, we decided to ski all the way to the bottom. Even though i'm glad i did it, it wasn't the best option as the snow was really slushy and made it hard to turn. So we went back to the hotel at about 4.30pm, had a few drinks and went to get a shower before dinner.....nice!

Monday morning, weather was still good but a little bit chiller and not much sun. Still it didn't put anybody off, back to Flauchau we went, for my finest hour. Off one off the slopes, Mike and his mate Adam spotted a jump. At this point there was Me, Dad, Gaz, Andy, Sam, Paul, Mike, Adam and Amy. Mike being a dare-devil went shooting off for this jump with Adam not far behind him. Andy and Dad then followed. Paul and Amy, which just left me and Sam. Uptil now this was results of the jump:

Mike - Landed, good jump
Adam - Landed, but a bit wobbly
Andy - Didn't jump
Dad - Didn't jump
Paul - Flopped over it
Amy - Total wipeout!

So me and Sam decided to go for it, as i was following her we reached the track leading up to the jump, and from nowhere my skis got a sudden rush of energy, as i shooted past her all i heard was her voice shouting "Don't do it!" but it was too late, the jump was bigger than expected and i had gone........sailing into the sky that is. As i finally landed, i was so pleased with myself that i did a very stupid thing. I lent to the side and i toppled over. But it was worth it as i proud to do it. As i recovered one of my skis and made my way the group i got a really well deserved clap, which made me feel better. Mike was very impressed!!!

After we had finished the day's skiing, gareth adn dad were looking in the ski shops so i made my way to the hotel on the minibus. When they returned gareth had a little surprise for me - He had bought some new ski's. He had saved his birthday money from March adn had decided that's what he wanted. They were very nice, White Blizzards edged with blue. I might wait a few more years before i get some of my own.

Tuesday morning, we all woke up bright and early to find out.............the weather was awful. It had been snowing through the night (on the day gareth was going to try out his new ski's - he wasn't impressed!) but we carried on regardless, it was very misty at the top, and you couldn't see alot. Just to prove this as usual i was caught up in colliding with Pete Twist. It was kind of my fault. I turned to get through the thick, slushy snow, and as i did, pete was going gto go round me. But nevemind although my knee began to hurt again!

Info: I twisted my knee a few years ago when i was learning to ski. On my lesson i was taken off-piste by my instructor (idiot!) and i fell over and twisted my knee.

i stopped and had a break and a nice cup of hot chocolate to cheer me up. After being rested i took my time for the rest of the day, so i didn't do anymore damage.

Wednesday - still cloudy at the top. But we decided to try the other resort just up the road called flachauwinkle (or as we pronounced it 'flash-your-winkle!'). To be honest we skied up till about 2.30pm because the weather wasn't pretty and everyone was tired from the day before. So we headed off back to the hotel where we had fun in the bar (as usual).

Thursday we went back to flachauwinkle. Weather was a bit better. Some of the group were a bit late getting ready so dad, me, gareth, steve, kym, adam and mike decided to carry on. So we decided to go on a nice easy blue run.

info: there are normally 3 kinds of slopes (unless you're in America where they give the slopes silly names)
Blue: Easy run, quite flat, but narrow.
Red: Steeper but wider.
Black: Long, Steep, wide

So this nice easy blue run turned out to be the blue from hell, half way down the snow was getting slushier, and heavier every minute, we all struggled. Just before getting to the bottom we were skiing on a field, it was awful and we all felt the agony on our legs. I think Steve was going to complain because really that run should have been closed, far to dangerous!

Later that afternoon when we all met up. We were doing a few reds, when Mike skied in front of this big German dude and cut him up. It was very funny to watch this German with a face full of snow, he skied over to Mike and was telling him off, but Mike apologised (as he was still laughing under his breath!)

Friday was upon us, our last skiing day. Although to be honest i was quite prepared to go home. I missed mum and Kieron. But i still enjoyed every moment being on the slopes. Everybody wanted to ski as much as possible, but before we knew it it was time to go. On that evening we all decided to out to celebrate at a local bar called Kohler's bar. It was so much fun i haven't laughed so hard in all my life. These random guy (who seemed very gay) kept coming over to our group trying to talk to us. He sat next to Pete (who wasn't impressed) and this guy asked him his name Pete replied "Rupert".

Saturday morning arrived our flight was at 12.30pm and i thought it was going to drag, but before i know it i was back in Brum.

It was a brilliant holiday but i was glad to be back. Kieron came to mine to see me as we had both missed each other a lot. He then took me to see Ice Age 2, which is really hilarious and later we had Fish 'n' Chips (yummy!!!!). Iwas well knackered whe i got home.

See you laters xxxx

Dude, super Sel! *hands over cape* You know, I have this brilliant image of you in my head doing this fantastic jump on your skis and just falling over at the end. It's like something from a Monty Python sketch! You know, the good ones. ;)

Man, I wish I could have seen it. One day we should all go on a skiing holiday. It has the potential to be brilliantly hilarious! :D

Love you, mwah. x
